WheelerWorks is a personal project by Max Wheeler — a catalog of free tools and games I build for fun and share with anyone who finds them useful. This page explains the ground rules for using them and how your information is handled. I’ve tried to keep it in plain English.

If a specific tool collects or does something not covered here, that tool will have its own notice that takes precedence for that tool.

Terms of Use

These tools are free, and provided as-is. You’re welcome to use them, but they come with no guarantees. I build and maintain them in my spare time, and while I try to make them work well, I can’t promise they’ll be error-free, always available, or fit for any particular purpose.

No warranty, no liability. The tools are provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, I’m not liable for any loss or damages arising from your use of them — including lost data, lost time, or decisions you made based on a tool’s output. If a tool gives you a number, a result, or a suggestion, treat it as a helpful starting point and verify anything that matters.

Use them reasonably. Please don’t use these tools to break the law, infringe others’ rights, or harm the tools themselves — no attempts to overload, hack, scrape at abusive scale, or interfere with how they run for other people.

Each tool may have its own terms. WheelerWorks links to a family of separate tools and games. Some have additional or different terms, especially anything involving accounts, payments, or personal data. Where a tool’s own terms exist, those apply to that tool.

Links to other sites. These tools may link to websites and services I don’t control (stores, publishers, third-party platforms). I’m not responsible for their content, terms, or privacy practices — check theirs when you follow a link.

Things change. I may update, change, or discontinue any tool at any time, without notice. I may also update these terms; the “last updated” date above will reflect the most recent version, and continuing to use the tools means you accept the current version.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. (Optional — remove if you’d rather not specify.)

Privacy

The short version: WheelerWorks itself collects very little, I don’t sell your data to anyone, and I only use what I need to keep the tools running and improving. Some individual tools handle more (like ones with accounts or that connect to your own services) — those explain their own data handling separately.

What WheelerWorks collects. When you visit the WheelerWorks site, basic technical information may be logged automatically by the hosting and analytics services I use — things like your browser type, general location (usually just country/region), pages visited, and how you got here. This is standard web-traffic data, used to understand what’s useful and to keep the site working.

Analytics and cookies. WheelerWorks uses Google Analytics to measure traffic. Google Analytics sets cookies to help understand how visitors use the site. These cookies are off by default — the first time you visit, a banner asks for your consent, and no analytics cookies are set unless you accept. You can decline, and you can also block cookies in your browser settings if you prefer.

Feedback. If you use the feedback link, what you submit — your message, an optional email address if you provide one, plus the page you sent it from and your browser’s user-agent string — is stored so I can read and act on it. The email is only used to follow up if you asked a question; leave it blank if you’d rather stay anonymous.

Individual tools handle their own data. The tools linked from WheelerWorks are separate, and some collect more than the catalog site does. For example, a tool with user accounts stores your account details, and a tool that connects to your own services (like email or a spreadsheet) accesses only what’s needed to do its job. Each such tool has its own privacy notice describing exactly what it accesses, stores, and why. Please read the notice on the specific tool you’re using.

Third-party services. The tools rely on third-party infrastructure (for hosting, analytics, and similar functions). These providers process data on my behalf according to their own privacy and security practices.

What I don’t do. I don’t sell your personal information, and I don’t share it with third parties except the service providers needed to run the tools, or where required by law.

Children. These tools aren’t directed at children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through one of these tools, contact me and I’ll remove it.

Your choices. You can browse most tools without providing personal information. For tools with accounts or stored data, you can contact me to ask what’s held or to request deletion.
